Abstract: 
Because of differences in language and culture, international students encounter many barriers to successful learning experiences in online learning environments that require appropriate communication and group work competences. We share current theory and present an online course design framework that is targeted to help international students learn appropriate self-presentation, communication, and group work behavior while using different online communication tools.

What will attendees at this presentation learn that they can apply at their institution/organization?: 
1. Attendees will get acquainted with current research that indicates how different cultural backgrounds affect communication, collaboration, and learning online. 2. Attendees will get acquainted with different communication competences required for communication through LMS, Blogs, Wikis, etc., as well as with intercultural communication competences and group work competences 3. The design framework of online class which is targeted to help international students to acquire those communications, intercultural and group work competences, will be shared. Presenters invite attendees to discuss this design framework expecting them to share their ideas and insights.
