Semantic Web (Web 3.0): The Platform, the Promise, and the Potential for Education and Instruction (Jim Van Horn, University of Central Missouri)
Tim Berners-Lee, the inventor of the worldwide web, first presented his vision for the Semantic Web in 2000. His model was for a web that included not only human readable content but information that can be processed by machines (computers) that provided logic and meaning - semantics. The marriage of the semantic web and learning objects has the potential to create an e-learning framework that will be flexible, personalized, and ubiquitous.

Live Music Performances Over the Internet: Is It Time Yet? (Dr. Robert Lawrence, University of Central Missouri)
The presenter will discuss the pros/cons of live performances over the Internet. Next, the UCM Vocal Jazz Ensemble will perform and following this will be a discussion among participants of the viability of utilizing this medium for live performances. Future ramifications will be explored.

Intensive Course Re-Development in Bb (Doug Golick and Toshi Urata, U of Kansas)
Each year, Instructional Development and Support’s annual “Course Redesign Colloquium” guides participating faculty members through an intensive examination of their courses. The purpose is to improve teaching and learning through the use of instructional techniques and technologies. Toshi and Doug will discuss the program’s redesign process and show examples of instructors’ outcomes.
